Callaway Christian Church Update on COVID-19 (June 17)
Great news!! Due to the response of those wishing to return to in-person worship and social distancing guidance, we have determined the need to expand our services! Starting this Sunday, June 21, we will be adding an earlier worship service at 8:30 am. This service will be identical to the current 10:30 am worship.
In addition, we will continue to broadcast the second service live on the Callaway Christian Church Youtube page at 10:30 am. If you are not ready for in-person worship, we’d love for you to join service that way!
We see the potential for growth and want you to continue to welcome and invite those you know and love to come and meet Jesus!!
Guidance The leadership and staff at Callaway have been keeping a careful watch on the ever-changing dynamic of the COVID-19 pandemic. After discussion and consideration, we have reinstituted corporate worship at the church facility. These meetings have modified capacity and the following safety parameters in place.
If you have a pre-existing condition, are in a high risk demographic, or feel unsafe attending worship at the facility, we want to encourage you to stay home and continue to enjoy services online. Additionally, in order to care for the health and wellness of the most vulnerable members, our community, and our first responders and healthcare workers, if you have experienced a fever, cough, or shortness of breath please do not attend.
In accordance with guidance by the Center for Disease Control and Callaway County Health Department, we want to ensure families are able to safely sit in the auditorium with six feet of spacing between groups. Please only sit with your own family.
For your safety, we will be blocking off some chairs to establish useable seating. There will not be coffee/refreshments or use of the water fountain.
Service and Children
Services will be limited to worship service only for the time being. We will hold services as usual at 10:30 am. There will be no Sunday school classes, Children’s Church, Wee Worship or Nursery at the current time.
The building will be utilized only from the main entrance and the second floor, fellowship hall, and kitchen will not be used.
Prior to service, we will be wiping down all touch points: doorknobs, door edges, light switches, and microphones. We will also be installing additional automatic hand sanitizer stations. If you choose to wear a mask, you will have to bring them along with you.
Pre-packaged communion cups with the bread and juice will be handed out as a you enter. Please take as many as you need for those partaking within your family and hold onto the cups for the Lord’s Supper. After use, we ask that you take all cups and refuse with you to the receptacles provided.
During service there will be a centrally located offering drop to avoid passing an offering plate. We would also like to emphasize that online giving is available through Tithe.ly(https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/1222260). You can of course give by sending tithes and offerings in via mail or dropping donations at the building.
Exiting the Auditorium
Upon the close of services, we will release by row from the rear to allow orderly flow of traffic and to avoid clusters and bottlenecks.
Continuation of Online Services
We will continue to broadcast a live online service each Sunday at 10:30 am, via the Callaway Christian Church YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7zJ3sKUJ3p4N5aD_4Lhp1A). If you are unable to make it for the live service, the video will be posted there shortly after completion.
During this time, it is imperative that we communicate the needs we have as a family. If you or a loved one test positive for COVID-19, please let us know. We want to come alongside and lift each other up in prayer.
In addition, if you are someone who should limit the risk of exposure but has a need -- food, help with errands, etc. – PLEASE LET US KNOW!! We have volunteers who will gladly take care of you. We know these can be troubling times for some and we want to help to the greatest extent that we can.
A food pantry is available for those who have meal needs. Assistance is available if you have financial needs. But we cannot be the hands and feet of Christ unless we know the needs of the body.
