The Shoeman Water Projects is about collecting your used and new shoes to save lives. The shoes are given a second life, selling the shoes to exporters for resale in developing countries. These affordable shoes protect their new owners from deadly parasites and infections. Then the money is used to purchase well-drilling rigs, water filtration systems, and other supplies to bring clean, fresh water to those in need.
The collection point at CCC is under the ministries information bulletin board. The shoes are then paired and stored and periodically taken to Columbia. Mike Rufkahr is the coordinator for this ministry for our church. You can drop him a line at rufkahrfam@gmail.com
In May 2011 at Mizzou the organization worked to set the world record for the longest line of shoes. For incredible pictures of the success click here.
